His partner Nadiya Bychkova, judge Craig Revel Horwood, and It Takes Two presenter Jeanette Manrara were among those who joined Mr Walker ahead of their performances on the Strictly tour in the city tonight and tomorrow. Last year Mr Walker revealed he would not be taking part in the 33-date tour due to work commitments and wanting to spend time at home with his family.

Sheffield children’s football pitches left ‘unplayable’ by vandals on quad bikes

The Limb Lane playing fields in Dore, which are home to Ecclesall Rangers Junior Football Club, were targeted last week as riders left tyre marks, grooves, and bumps in the turf. Martin Windle BEM, aged 75, who is chairman and founder of the club, said: “Ultimately the cost is to the children and it’s soul-destroying, especially after all they’ve been through these last two years with covid. Festival to take place in memory of ‘enormous influence’ in Sheffield rugby scene Alan George

Alan George played a pivotal role at several clubs in South Yorkshire and was director of rugby at Sheffield Hallam University for five years after coaching there since 1990. His family – Carolyn, Bryony, Huw, Tom, and Anna – said: “If you look at the tributes from Hallam Rugby Club’s current and former players, you’ll realise just how much of an enormous influence Alan had both on and off the field."

Sheffield postmaster ‘feels powerless’ over removal of vital cash machine

The ATM, which was outside Banner Cross Post Office on Ecclesall Road, was taken away on Monday morning, and it will have a massive financial impact. Nasar Raoof, 35, Banner Cross’ postmaster, said: “It’s an absolute killer. When you take something away like this, it leaves you with tuppence. I feel powerless, I don’t feel valued, and inevitably it takes money and food out of my children’s’ mouths. The impact of this will be felt for years to come."
